The original coil spring seat bases in my 1956 19’ Capri are in pretty rough shape. What is the best replacement method? Plywood base with firm/dense foam? New/different style springs? Thanks
yikes, sorry for the late reply. if you are going for a show boat, then you will need to rebuild the springs. I would call Woodys restorations in tenn for that question, they do interiors. If you are going for a GO boat, foam, I used a stiffer foam, and then made the cusions Kapok, which can be done several ways. One is cheap, One is not cheap. The cheap method is to use old life jackets with Kapok, and use those bags as stuffing. OR woodys restorations makes them . THis way you get the look and feel of original and dont need to get the springs done. BTW, there is also a way to just rework the exsisiting ones with the ribbon. But good god
